Being parents
of 5 daughters we have a fairly large family, with 10 grandchildren & 1 great
granddaughter.
August is great month because the grandchildren come to stay with
Granny & Gramps.
Dancing takes up our Saturday nights all winter.
We have retired from the Rock Shadows dance committee so now just enjoy
tripping the light fantastic.
Lapidary
involves Irv making cabochons in both Arizona and Alberta. In
silversmithing
Penny works in Country Store Museum at home in Alberta and on her
patio in Arizona. We attend the Strathmore Farmers Market every
Friday from June until September. We attend the Vulcan Farmers Market every
other Thursday afternoon with High River the alternate week.. We do custom orders of nearly every type of jewellery.
We added a new dimension when Penny took a course in wire wrapping
so we now have gold filled jewellery available. Penny & her
friend Helen make dichroic glass and use this in jewellery making.
In genealogy
we are searching: Swanson; Johnston;
Langille; Chapman; Smith; Johnson & Jacobson.
We have the Swanson family back to 1754 in Sweden;
the Langille family back to 1632 in France; the Smiths
back to 1601 in merry ole England and the Chapmans back
to 1660 in jolly old England. We are working on the Scandinavian side of Penny's
family searching for the Johnsons in Denmark and banging our
heads against the wall hunting for the Jacobsons
in Norway,
who only go back as far as 1889 with the known birth of Grandpa Jacobson!
Our interest in computers
is the result of a sore arm and a son-in-law telling us we needed a
computer NOT an electric typewriter! We are still learning! We
both belong to the Rockcomp Computer Club. We teach Quicken and
Digital Picture Imaging. We do desk top
publishing for people who want small quantities of printing (labels, business
cards and posters) and Penny also plays around making websites.
Irv loves 10 pin bowling and we
both enjoy golf when time permits. We enjoy watching
baseball. Of course the best sports
are watching the grandkids play hockey, baseball and soccer! We also like to
watch our own little Esther Williams and Mark Tewksbury's in the pool!
We are involved in the
Apache Junction Rock and Gem Club, which puts on a show every February.
The February 2007 show is called " 2007...Rocks From Heaven " and takes place February
17& 18, 2007 at the Skyline High School on South Crismon Road , Mesa
AZ. Proceeds
from this show go to scholarships for students of Skyline High School and
Central Arizona College (Apache Junction Campus). Penny is
the 2006 President and the Webmaster for the Club's new
website http://www.apachejunctionrockclub.org.
Penny is the webmaster of a new
site she created for the village of Arrowwood in 2004. You may visit the village
